The Promoters of M/s Meghalaya Steels Limited Known as the “Lohia Group” have been the most reputed business houses in the North Eastern Region (NER). The group commands consistent growth and performance over the last few decades. Lohia Group of industries has a diversified interest in the North East region (NER). The group is present in a wide array of building materials industry which includes Cement, GP/ GC Sheets, TMT bars, wire rods, black wire, Angle, Channels and other MS sections, controlling a substantial portion of the North East market of construction Steel. The Lohia Group has presence in the entire nook and corner of the region and many hardware stores run on goods procured from the group exclusively. The group is also involved in production of Ferro Alloys and Industrial Oxygen. Lohia group also has interest in education and the career of the upcoming ones and founded Delhi Public School at Guwahati. The Group had the vision of the requirement of departmental stores in the modern society and set up Sohum Shoppe which is considered to be the largest departmental chain stores in North East. The group is also part of Meghalaya Cements Limited, which markets its cement under the name of Topcem. Topcem, is a well established brand of the region and commands a substantial portion of market share in the north-east cement industry. The Lohia group has also successfully run ventures outside the North East. Apart from TMT group also has manaufacturing facilities of kraft paper and AAC Blocks with brand name Brikolite.

Kailash Chandra Lohia is one of the most prominent industrial faces in the North East Region and he and his group has progressed and risen in the last two decades. When the region was engulfed in insurgency in the late eighties and the early nineties and most of the established business houses migrated/relocated their business, Mr Lohia continued his path of growth by dint of hard work, foresightedness and perseverance. He is known as the man with the Midas touch, a testimony to the fact that he has been successful in whatever business venture he strides in.

The young Mr. Bajrang lohia is the driving force behind the groups recent foray into diversified activities. Combining rare talent, youthful enthusiasm and business acumen his ventures in new areas has paid rich dividend to the group. Mr Bajrang Lohia is involved in most of the group companies in different postions.
Mr Rahul Lohia
Director
Shri Rahul Lohia, son of Shri Kailash Lohia, aged 30 years, is a Post Graduate in Business Administration (MBA) from the SP Jain institute in Mumbai. He is associated with almost all the activities of the Lohia group as a director/partner/ Authorised representative. He started his career overseeing the Delhi operations of the group and was thereafter drafted into the groups Industrial activities in the North East, Jharkhand, Orrisa, and West Bengal.

About MSL
Meghalaya Steels Limited is an ISO 9001:2000 Company promoted by the LOHIA GROUP. The factory is located at EPIP area of Byrnihat, Meghalaya. This is one of the largest integrated Rolling Mills in this region. The Company has been granted the permission to mark ISI certification on its products by BIS and thus is a testimony of quality products. The company enjoys a good reputation in the market for its quality products and fair trade practices. The firm has set up a ministeel unit to manufacture Mild Steel(MS) ingots, Thermo Mechanically Treated (TMT) rods/bars and Ferro-silicon.
Milestones
The excellent response of the market for high-quality products and also encouraging invitation from Meghalaya Government led to the setting up of Meghalaya Steels Ltd. in 1999. It started with an Induction Furnace of 24000 MT/Annum with a matching capacity Rolling Mill commissioned in 1999 at Byrnihat, Meghalaya. In the following year i.e. 2000, it commissioned 2nd Induction Furnace of 18000MT/Annum in the same facility. In the year 2002, a 8000MT/Annum Ferro Silicon Plant was added to Meghalaya steels manufacturing activities. In 2005 Meghalaya Steels Limited entered into a manufacturing franchisee agreement with one of the leading steel manufacturer Kamdhenu Ispat Ltd to produce Kamdhenu tmt bar. Currently the plant manaufactures its own branded product MEGA TURBO TMT
Presently Meghalaya Steels Limited Facility Comprises of:
Re-Rolling Mill with Installed Capacity of 20,000 MT/Annum for manufacture of HSD Bars & Rods as per IS - 1786.
Induction Furnace - 2 nos with Installed Capacity of ~40,000 MT/Annum for manufacture M.S. Ingot.
Sub-merge Arc Furnace - 2 nos with Installed Capacity of ~8000MT/Annum for manufacture of Ferro Silicon.
